thanks - issue solved .

next : something strange happening now ie : when I convert a YouTube file as mp3(Jaksta setting) I can find it back in media (Finder -iMac) Jaksta converter as mp4 .Although Jaksta tells me it is sent to iTunes(I am on "music" - Catalina) it does not show in "added" in music (guess is related to mp4 and mp3 issue)- work around I found : go to Jaksta downloads - there it is mp3 - I drag this into playlists(added) - ans it appears in muis in the existing playlist(s)-

is there a simpel way ? something to create in the Jaksta Preferences ?

thanks for your help

cheers

Hi Leo,

After reviewing the log file I think that your issue is that the destination folder (and path) that you have set for the downloads is incorrect. This means that Jaksta is unable to determine where to send the downloads, so it ends up failing.

At the moment it is set to: /documents/downloads jaksta. The problem is that it is missing the rest of the file path, which is generally something along the lines of: Users/Leo/documents/downloads jaksta. It's either that or the 'downloads jaksta' folder does not exist and so it can't find it and ends up with the same problem.

You can amend it by opening Jaksta and going to Preferences > Downloads and then click the Change button and set a new path and destination.  You can start off by setting the path to somewhere easy and obvious (such as the Desktop) and then run some tests and make sure it's resolved. Make sure to only use standard YouTube videos for tests, as any other sites may have their own download issues and that will skew the results and complicate things further.

Once it is all working you can update the folder path to whatever you like and you should be all set.

Hi Leo,

I have not seen a log file sent from you on or around that date. I checked your account history as well to see if you had sent it via an email ticket or another forum thread, but could not find anything.

It may be that you never sent it.

Thanks Liam,

Did I not send this already (December 3rd)? Or was the log file I did send not OK?

It was generated following your instructions.

Thanks for your patience

Cheers

Leo

Hi Leo,

As I said before, I will need a clean log file to review so that can get a better idea of what the problem is.

You can find the instructions on how to generate a clean log file in my last post in this thread.

Hi Leo,

Can you please generate and supply a clean log file for me to review?

To get a clean log, you will need to do the following:

- Open Jaksta Media Recorder

- Go to Preferences > General > Find Log File

- Close JMR but keep the Finder window with the log file open

- Delete the log file and still keep the Finder window open

- Reopen JMR (this will generate a new log file)

- Run one test on the problem site/stream

- Close JMR once it fails and/or the error is reproduced

- Go back to the Finder window with the new log file and then attach it here (don't copy and paste the code in it - send the file itself)

Hi Leo,

At this point I would suggest a full reinstall. If there is a break in the programs processes then this should reset them.

What you will need to do is delete the app (uninstall) from Applications instead of just reinstalling over it. Then in Finder go to the top menu and then access Go > (holding one of shift/alt/control/command) Library > Application Support > Jaksta Media Recorder and delete that folder (NOTE: doing this will erase your library file list in Jaksta, but your downloaded/converted files will remain intact in their destination folders). Reboot the Mac and then do a reinstall of the latest beta (https://download.shedworx.com/jaksta/beta/2.2.6_288/JakstaMediaRecorder.pkg) and it will generate a new copy of the deleted folder and the application files.

If the 'greyed out' appearance continues can you tell me if there are any error notices that appear? Just to check, it's not a result of your MacOS being set to Dark Mode is it?

hi Liam

just pro memory : I tried everything you recommended - no result.

not hearing any new point from your site I did remove the beta version and re-downloaded the latest version -I was naive to think it would be ok now -

I am really stuck - is there really no way out of this problem ? up to now I was more than happy with how things worked with Jaksta media recorder

cheers

indeed all downloads are from YouTube - the work around you suggest does not work (I am in firefox now - before I used safari)

notice that the page I copied is "grey" -not clear like it was before - seems that it is not "Active" - what is exactly the Problem ? related to the new OS for iMac(Catalina ) ? shift from 32 bits to 64 bits ?

pitty I cannot use the program anymore - was very easy to use.

hope you still can find a solution to the issue

cheers

Hi Leo,

Are all of the downloads also from YouTube, including the problem ones?

Regardless, I would suggest trying to capture them using different browsers and then if that does not help you can give the URL downloader bar a try (up the top of Jaksta).

It is usually a bit slower than a normal stream capture, but it has a pretty high success rate with normal YouTube videos.
