JMR 2023 5.8.1 update failed

Result of update was "no monitors available" and an invitation to tour audio features... in a frozen box - unable to OK anything or close down, had to use Task Manager "End Task".

I ran the update again but it said it would update 2023 5.8.1, rather than the 2022 version that is active, so I exited down the update.

2022 is still working so am waitng for advice before trying again.

(I keep meaning to update my previous problem about JMR 2022 crashing repeatedly - it stopped crashing within a few hours of my last post, no explanation.)

@CharlieLacey I still have my 2022 version on my PC . As I explained at the start of this thread, what it has lost is the ability to "find the audio speaker" so it refuses to record at all unless I switch off Audio Redirection, in which case it records but with barely audible poor sound. Other people have encountered this audio problem but only on the new 2023 version. My 2022 version was working perfectly before I downloaded the update (apart from recording 3/4 not full screen). Suspect what affected it was when I uninstalled 2023.

I'm still waiting for a reply from Jacksta, I emailed them as well as writing on here. Sincerely hope they reply before weekend or I'm stuck. Afraid to uninstall 2022.2.13.0 in case it won't install properly again or overrides it with the faulty 2023 version. I'll try that as a last resort.

Do Jaksta normally reply eventually? Haven't experienced this lack of communication before with any other legitimate paid software.

The other option is to go to control panel, and in the system status section restore your computer to the point before you downloaded Jaksta 2023. This will restore all hardware settings as they were at the creation of the recovery point and will not alter any of your files or documents. I investigated the download link described above on my machine and it did appear to be 2022.2.13.0. Whether this solution restores your audio settings I couldn't say. You're right, looking at the threads in the forum the replies from support are few and far between.

Have followed the link for 2022.13.0 and downloaded this version of JMR. I can confirm that it downloads correctly and is the 2022 version. It also appears to have corrected the DVR components that were adversely affected by my dalliance with the 2023 version. The activation key issue does not arise. Lesson to be learned here... where computers are concerned it doesn't pay to be an early adopter... and if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I've had the same problem that many of you have had with the JMR-2023 Update  - it won't recopgnize my license key.

On 05-05-2023 I received an email from Jaksta support:

Your activation code will remain valid for all future versions of Jaksta for Windows.

Therfore, no new license should be necessary.

The following steps worked for me to reinstall JMR-2022.3.13.0 for Windows after the JMR-2023 update failure.

PLEASE NOTE: Thhis assumes you have a copy of JMR-2022.3.13.0.exe

1.  Completeley uninstall JMR-2023.  i used  Geek Uninstaller to do this.

      a) JMR-2023 has 3 components; NPcap, NetMonitor, and JMR-2023.  I uninstalled NeMonitor and NPCap first, then JMR-2023.

2.  If you still have JMR-2022.3.13.0 installed, try it.  If it works, great.  If not, proceed to step 3.

3.  Completeley uninstall JMR-2022.3.13.0 (see step 1, Geek Uninstaller)

4.  Reboot, then reinstall JMR-2022.3.13.0 (if you have it).

This procedure recovered JMR-2022.3.13.0, and my old license key worked.  Until they get JMR-2023 fixed, I suggest you go to the "Get Support" tab in JMR-2022 and set "Check for new version on start" to OFF.

Hope this helps.

Same problem as described above. The latest update only installs as a trial version and previous activation key is invalid. Also the new installation damages the previous version. To solve the problem uninstall both the new and previous versions and reinstall the previous version which works. Disable the update nag screen in the get support screen. Frankly I am amazed that Jaksta  have released this update without testing it properly. Certainly with so many posts and no solution or even acknowledgement  from  Jaksta  the developers should pull this update.

For me, with the same issue, it seams obvious that Jaksta is trying silently, that is without anonting it opennly, saying the 2023 version requires us to buy a new registration key. You can easilly confirm it by looking at the licence field type formation of the new key and you see that it is diferent from the previous one of the 2022 version.

You have already a new version available, the JMR-2023.5.10.2.exe, and the licence key issue remains unsolved.

Jaksta is trying to make more money from the lifetime old customers. It's sad but it's true.

i think something happened and a new person is running the show and dont have access to the old keys and is trying to blend in

I think the deathly silence fromJaksta tells all. This new update requires you to purchase a new licence. Stick with the earlier version as it still works

2022 may be working for now - but what about when YouTube tinkers with its system and Jaksta needs an updated extraction engine or new version?  Then we're stymied!

I noticed that there's already been an extraction engine update for 2023 but I didn't respond to the notification.

(As 2022 is functioning normally I have not uninstalled 2023, it's lying dormant here, maybe waiting to torment me!)
